I'm not sure if all USD files will have the same issue, but I took the USD files of the buildings and created a gallery to make it easier to assemble them in a scene. However, I’ve noticed that each asset feels extremely heavy—just a single building is using up 19GB of memory in Houdini. I’m working with 2K versions of the textures, but it’s nearly impossible to have more than five buildings in a scene, whether using the layout node, reference node, or any other method.
When I load the files in Maya, everything works fine regarding the memory load. But in Houdini with Solaris and MaterialX, it's become almost impossible to work efficiently.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
